چکیده

Abstract Background Ethnic background has been claimed to affect arch form. The purpose of this study was describe and elucidate the maxillary mandibular forms in Jordanian population develop a classification method for these which could be employed construct orthodontic archwires accordingly. Methods sample comprised casts five hundred twenty subjects (231 males 289 females with mean age 15.4 ± 1.02 years). All had permanent dentition normal occlusion. A mathematical associated polynomial function 6th degree assess dental forms. resultant were classified into 5 groups both maxilla mandible utilizing computer software special code designed study. Each group subdivided 3 subgroup sizes namely: small, medium, large. Results Catenary form found 47% 41.2% ( p ? 0.01) forms, respectively. Form 2 (which is halfway between ellipse U-shaped form) 27.7% 26.7%. Medium size 55.4% 65.6% Conclusion most prevalent form, followed by wide elliptical other included tudor arch, tapered equilateral quadrangular less frequent.
